Poems about growing up on a farm in Indiana in the 1940s and 1950s. The manuscript for "Marjorie Main" earned the poet a Finalist Position in the Academy of American Poets' Walt Whitman Prize competition. Illustrated with period photos.
John Sherman's third book of poetry provides rich details of his rural upbringing half a century ago, yet the poems resonate with young readers (he often reads from the book to schoolchildren) as well as to those old enough to remember the times being written about.
Sherman is also the author of pictorial histories of Taos (available on Amazon) and Santa Fe (currently out of print, but available as a used book), and his latest book, War Stories: A Memoir of Nigeria and Biafra (also on Amazon). He has written dozens of magazine and newspaper articles and frequently gives poetry readings and lectures.
He is a member of PEN and the Authors Guild.
