Marked In Salt On Maasu Shima

When Mara arrives on the island, she comes for answers - data, research, proof. But the island has its own way of keeping people, and its rules aren't written anywhere. Waves beat in strange rhythms. Rituals feel half-explained on purpose. And the Steward - whatever it is - seems to know her name before she speaks it.
As a research vessel closes in, the island begins to choose: who belongs, who leaves, and what must be given up to keep a promise. Caught between science, desire, and a community that refuses to be mapped, Mara has to decide whether understanding something means protecting it...or breaking it.
Some places don't want to be studied.
They want to be believed.
