Die Planung des Produktsystems umfasst in der taktischen Frist u.a. die Probleme der Neuproduktplanung, der Produktvariation und der Produktdifferenzierung. Es stellt sich die Frage, wie die Konsequenzen einer �nderung im Produktsystem prognostiziert werden k�nnen. Zum einen m�ssen Erl�seffekte abgesch�tzt werden, zum anderen sind die unternehmungsinternen Konsequenzen zu beachten, um etwa marktseitig attraktive, aber extrem ressourcenintensive Produktprogramme zu verhindern.

Zur Absch�tzung von Erl�seffekten setzt Rainer Paffrath Marktsimulationen auf der Basis von Conjoint Measurement ein, damit insbesondere Nachfragerpr�ferenzen ber�cksichtigt werden. Die R�ckkopplung mit dem Produktionssystem erreicht er durch eine Verbindung zu einer modifizierten Kostenrechnung. Au�erdem erg�nzt er seinen Entwurf um Dienste eines Simulationssystems. Das Planungsmodell ist als objektorientiertes Referenzmodell formuliert. Anpassungen an unternehmungsspezifische F�lle sind problemlos m�glich. Zus�tzlich demonstriert der Autor die prototypische Umsetzung in Software.
