Item description from seller

Light but "heart-palpitating" romance of a New York millionaire whose fiancée throws him over for a richer man; encountering an impoverished 'girl' in a park, he rescues her and proposes, partly out of spite; she accepts out of desperation; over the course of the book, they do manage to fall in love. Roche, trained as a lawyer, was a popular author of thrillers and romances from the mid nineteen-teens until his early death in 1935. Several of his 30 or so books were filmed. Reprint, probably circa 1930 - the copyright page lists three printings in 1929, most likely by the original publisher. Hardcover in jacket, as pictured. Book shows some wear, corners bumped & rubbed; endsheets tanned & mottled, some foxing within; jacket rubbed & chipped. Size: Duodecimo.
