A well-loved antiquarian hardcover in the decorative Collins pictorial cloth binding, with a striking gilt and colour-printed cover design of a canoe, moose, and river scene, and a matching pictorial spine of a sailing ship. Includes a colour frontispiece and title page reading "Eight Coloured Illustrations."

Boards: bright cloth colour retained overall, with rubbing and fraying to the spine ends (head and tail) and bumping to the corners
Spine: pictorial gilt titling remains legible and attractive; some wear along the spine cloth edges
Hinges: front inner hinge is cracked/tender, with a small closed tear at the front free endpaper corner (visible where it meets the pastedown) ? book is still holding but should be handled gently
Text block: complete to page 268 plus original publisher's advertisements; pages are tanned/toned as expected with age, with scattered foxing to the endpapers
Prior ownership: small pencil ink notations to a front endpaper (a "2" and a small "E4" mark), otherwise no inscriptions or bookplates noted
Overall a solid, displayable copy with strong original artwork on the covers, showing honest wear commensurate with age.
