While on a trip from her home in Mississippi to Syracuse, New York, the bubbly cheerleader meets Tony, an ex-marine several years her senior. Believing the mature-looking MaryAna to be twenty, Tony asks her out. MaryAna is thrilled, inventing an older, fictional version of herself. She thinks she’s found her prince charming, even if she suspects Tony deals drugs.

Casting herself as Cinderella in her own fairy tale, MaryAna continues to date Tony, even though real life keeps intruding on her fantasy. A rape investigation casts suspicion on her brother and puts MaryAna herself at risk of violence. And as for Tony, his feelings for MaryAna’s imaginary persona grow ever stronger. If she tells him the truth, will any possibility of a future together be ruined?

The follow up to JoeE, the first novel in the Secrets, Secrets, Secrets series, MaryAna presents a young girl learning that growing up often means facing hard truths and the consequences of your actions, but that fairy-tale endings might—just might—be possible.
