About the Author
Mike Gasher is professor of the Department of Journalism at Concordia University. For two decades he worked as a journalist in Ontario and British Columbia. He is currently engaged with a project called 'The Geography of News'. This project is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and examines the circulation of international news stories on the internet. He is also the co-editor of Converging Media, Diverging Politics: A Political Economy of News in the United States and Canada (Lexington Books, 2005). David Skinner is associate professor and chair of the Department of Communication and Culture at York University. He was the founding chair of the journalism program at Thompson Rivers University. His research interests include the political economy of communication, media and communications policy, alternative and community media, media democracy. He is also the co-editor of Converging Media, Diverging Politics: A Political Economy of News in the United States and Canada (Lexington Books, 2005). Rowland Lorimer is professor in the School of Communications and director of the Canadian Centre for Studies in Publishing at Simon Fraser University. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto in 1968 and since then has been a prolific author in the field, particularly in scholarly venues.
