Mass Transfer in Close Binary Stars

In recent years, significant advances have been made in the numerical simulation of mass-transfer processes of binary stars. These are dealt with concisely in Mass Transfer in Close Binary Stars: Gas Dynamical Treatment. Intended for specialists and postgraduates in the fields of astrophysics, observational astronomy and stellar evolution, the book covers background theory and sets out basic principles, giving many practical examples. It then offers a brief review of the available observational evidence of mass transfer in binaries. It will be useful for graduate and postgraduate students training in astrophysics as well as qualified teachers, curious to know more about the processes occurring in binary stars.
