Tomomi Kaharabata-Toppin is one of the new Barbadian authors influenced by techno-media and gaming and writing in genres like speculative fiction, straight up fantasy and magico-realism, telling apocalyptic tales. Many of these new writers are yet to be seen as Caribbean in the sense of the old canon of Naipaul, Selvon, etc yet this is where some of the most vigourous new writing in the region is taking place.
