Unlock the Full Potential of the RP2040 and RP2350 PIO Subsystem
Most microcontrollers trap you within the rigid limits of their fixed hardware peripherals. If you need an extra UART, a custom parallel bus, or a high-speed video interface that the manufacturer did not include, you are usually forced to settle for inefficient software bit-banging. The Raspberry Pi RP2040 changed this paradigm with its Programmable I/O (PIO) blocks: a revolutionary hardware subsystem that allows you to design custom digital interfaces with nanosecond precision.
Mastering RP2040 Micro-chips is the definitive technical guide for engineers, hackers, and students who want to move beyond the basics and harness the true power of software-defined hardware. This book provides a deep-dive into cycle-exact logic design, teaching you how to build professional-grade interfaces that outperform standard communication protocols with ease.
What You Will Discover Inside:- The Architecture of Time: Understand the internal mechanics of state machines, the dual-core bus fabric, and the deterministic execution environment that makes PIO unique.
- PIO Assembly Mastery: Learn to write efficient, high-performance assembly code using the specialized PIO instruction set, including advanced uses of side-set, delay, and flow control.
- Advanced Multimedia: Step-by-step instructions for generating analog VGA and digital DVI/HDMI video signals directly from the RP2040.
- DMA Orchestration: Master the Direct Memory Access controller to move data at gigabit speeds without consuming a single CPU cycle.
- Real-World Protocals: Build custom implementations for I2S audio, HUB75 LED matrices, high-speed SPI, and legacy parallel buses.
- The PIO Logic Analyzer: Transform your microcontroller into a 100MHz diagnostic tool capable of capturing and visualizing high-speed signals in real-time.
- The Next Generation: A comprehensive look at the RP2350, exploring the transition to the new architecture and strategies for porting your code to the latest silicon.
From foundational concepts to the final project: a Universal Protocol Bridge: this book treats the PIO as a universal translator for the digital world. Whether you are building a custom gaming handheld, a high-fidelity audio system, or an industrial sensor gateway, you will learn to speak the language of any chip, past or future.
Stop being limited by your hardware. Start defining it. Master the RP2040 and RP2350 PIO today.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
