The Masterpiece

Joe Flynn has just learned he's dying.

In the aftermath of his wife's death, sixty-two-year-old Joe pushed away everyone who cared about him—including his twelve-year-old grandson, Aaron.

But Joe's terminal diagnosis, as well as a vivid dream where his deceased wife appears to him, spur him to attempt to reconnect with Aaron before time runs out.

Joe soon discovers that Aaron has fallen in with a dangerous crowd. The Courtneys, a band of brothers known for fighting, stealing, and bullying, have taken a liking to Aaron and are teaching him their criminal ways.

In his attempt to help, Joe embarks with his grandson on a journey of healing, during which they stumble across a host of colorful characters—including a priest, a police officer, and a professor—who all manage to help the duo learn what really matters.

A heartwarming story of love and hatred, faith and anger, life and death—and the tricky art of forgiveness—The Masterpiece is a must-read for anyone who has known grief or struggle.
