Most fasting books are written by researchers. This one is written by a practitioner.
At 57 years old, Amin Shabazz Muhammad has practiced advanced fasting disciplines for over 30 years. He began with One Meal A Day in 1990. By 1994 he had progressed to One Meal Every Two Days — and has maintained that practice without interruption to the present day. What you see in his face is not a claim. It is a testimony.
Mastery Level Fasting is a step-by-step development guide through every level of the discipline — from intermittent fasting and caloric restriction, through OMAD, to the advanced practices of One Meal Every Two Days and One Meal Every Three Days. Each level is documented from the inside — successes, failures, physical effects, mental shifts, and the will required to sustain it.
What this book covers:
- How to define fasting correctly — and why most people are doing it wrong
- The science of caloric restriction — the 1935 studies, the Rhesus Macaque research, and what a 20% caloric reduction actually does to a living body
- Intermittent fasting as an entry point — and why most people stop there when they should continue
- OMAD — the mechanics, the adjustment period, and what changes when you sustain it
- One Meal Every Two Days — the level the author has maintained for over 30 years
- One Meal Every Three Days — the highest documented level and what it produces
- Fasting and chronic injury — documented personal experience surviving multiple bone tumor surgeries and spinal degeneration, and how fasting served where allopathic medicine could not
- The mental and spiritual dimensions — what happens to thought, mood, and perception at each level
- Autophagy — the 2016 Nobel Prize research explained in plain language
- A mathematical and scientific approach to fasting that any serious student can follow
This is not a book for people who want to lose a few pounds before summer. It is a book for the person who is ready to take the discipline seriously — and who wants to learn from someone who has lived it, not just studied it.
