Math Lives Here: How Maya Found Numbers Everywhere

Maya wants to learn how to count money, operate the register, and help run her family’s neighborhood market. But Papa teaches those things to her older brother, Micah, while Maya is expected to remain home and help Mama.
Then Maya begins looking more closely.
She finds fractions in recipes, geometry in the kitchen, patterns in the laundry, multiplication at the dinner table, and inventory in the pantry. Math is not confined to Papa’s store. It is everywhere.
When Papa prepares a proposal for the biggest contract the family business has ever pursued, everyone must help meet the deadline. While organizing the papers, Maya discovers a mistake that could cost the store thousands of dollars.
Will she find the courage to speak up? And will Papa be willing to listen?
Math Lives Here is an uplifting story about practical mathematics, family entrepreneurship, equal opportunity, and a young girl who discovers that numbers belong to everyone.
