Math Trailblazers: A Mathematical Journey Using Science & Language Arts - Student Guide

Student Guide, Grade 2. Math Trailblazers is based on the belief that all children deserve a challenging mathematics curriculum and that mathematics is best learned through solving many different kinds of problems. The program provides a careful balance of concepts and skills. Traditional arithmetic skills and procedures are covered through their repeated use in problems and through distributed practice. Students will become proficient problem solvers, will know how to approach problems in many different ways, will know when and how to apply the mathematics they have learned, and will be able to clearly communicate their mathematical knowledge. They will learn more mathematics than in a traditional program - computation, measurement, geometry, data collection and analysis, estimation, graphing,patterns and relationships, mental arithmetic, and simple algebraic ideas are all an integral part of the curriculum.
