About the Author

S.S. Bhavikatti, obtained his BE degree in Civil Engineering in 1963 from Karnataka University, Dharwad for which he studied engineering at BVB College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli. He obtained ME (Structural Eng.) degree from ITI Roorkee in 1967 and Ph.D. from ITI Delhi in 1977. He served NITK Surathkal as a teacher from 1963 to 2001 at various levels including head of department, Dean (Administrative), Chairman, Central Computer Centre and Chairman, Continuing education. From 2001 to 2005 he served SDMCET Dharwad as head of department and vice-principal from 2005 to 2007 he served RYM Engineering College, Bellary as Principal. Presently he is emeritus professor at BVBECT Hubli. He has published 62 technical papers, guided 68 students for M.Tech. thesis and five students for Ph.D. He was organizing scientific committee of IASS conference held at Taeque (South Korea) hold in 1990, Tokyo (Japan 1993) and Taeipei (Taiwan 1993). He was planning board member of IGNOU, Delhi, and member of several committees appointed by Government of Karnataka. Prof. Bhavikatti has already published 32 books in Civil Engineering.
