About the Author

Dr. Michael W. Nellums is a native of Arkansas, and attended public segregated schools until forced integration occurred in his community. Dr. Nellums received Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Central Arkansas in Social Studies and Educational Leadership and a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Dr. Nellums is protégé of renown   Black Historian, Dr. Theman Taylor, Sr., and a tireless advocate for the rights of black males in public schools. Dr. Michael Nellums serves on the Little Rock School Board, Little Rock Public Schools is the largest school district in the State of Arkansas. Also, Dr. Nellums is a High School Principal in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Dr. Walter Milton, Jr., is a native of Rochester, New York. He received his K-12 education from the Rochester City School District. He is a proud product of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. He earned a B.A. from the University of Albany and a M.S. from SUNY College at Brockport. He took post-graduate courses at the University of Rochester to receive his administrative certifications, including his superintendent s license. He holds a Doctorate of Education degree in leadership and policy from the University of Buffalo. Dr. Milton served as a Superintendent for eleven years. In addition to being an entrepreneur, Dr. Milton is a visiting professor at Tennessee State University, teaching three doctoral level courses. Dr. Milton is an inventor who holds a patent in addition to his academic and professional pursuits. He is also a published author of Me in the Making One Man s Journey of Becoming a School Superintendent, (2008)
