This Matters

This Matters is a heartfelt journey into the relentless love of God as revealed through Jesus’ parables, the cross, and the invitation to radical grace. At its core, this book challenges readers to reconsider what truly matters in their faith, the pursuit of the lost, the power of forgiveness, and the call to live fully surrendered to God’s transforming love.
The book opens by grounding readers in the rich biblical narrative of the lost; the sheep, the coin, the prodigal son, and unpacks the surprising lengths God goes to restore every one of us. These stories are more than familiar Bible lessons; they are a mirror reflecting God’s passionate heart for those who feel rejected, forgotten, or beyond hope.
Moving from parable to parable, This Matters illustrates how God’s grace is not passive but aggressively pursuing, never willing to give up on those whom the world writes off. It invites readers to wrestle with their own response: Will we leave the comfortable ninety-nine to chase the one? Will we extend wild hospitality to the “lost,” no matter how messy or inconvenient that may be?
The book also connects this divine pursuit with the cross, where Jesus embodies the ultimate act of love, freely embracing rejection, suffering, and death so that life might be restored for all. Through reflections on the two thieves crucified alongside Jesus, the book explores the tension between rejection and redemption, showing how God’s invitation is extended to every soul, no matter their past.
Drawing deeply from Wesleyan theology, This Matters emphasizes grace as the starting point of transformation and perfection in love as the ongoing journey. It highlights the daily call found in Luke 9:23-27, inviting readers into a rhythm of daily surrender and cross-bearing where faith becomes authentic and alive.
True to Wesley’s legacy, the book doesn’t shy away from talking about struggle, community, and practical holiness. It encourages readers to cultivate communities of grace that welcome the weary, the broken, and the wanderers, creating spaces where transformation happens through belonging.
Throughout, This Matters balances biblical insight with storytelling, humor, and real-life applications. It calls readers not just to admire God’s love but to engage with it personally, living out a faith that risks, pursues, and welcomes. Whether you are new to faith or a seasoned journeyer, this book inspires a deeper understanding of God’s relentless love and challenges you to live a life that truly matters in God’s unfolding story.
