Adamant in his claim that he grants no favors or preference to any restaurant, hotel, or travel agency, Bone carefully declares what few gratuities he has accepted. He includes an appendix of a helpful list of toll-free telephone numbers for hotels, car rental, and tour/attraction agencies that can be reached in the continental United States-a definite planning aid. His recommendations and descriptions are sound, up-todate, and appear to be unbiased. He overlooks a few suggestions, such as the excellent, reasonably priced take-out meals readily available in otherwise-expensive New Zealand, but the books are well written and researched.
