Max Speed Max

Max Speed Max is a gentle, emotionally rich read-along picture book for young children about slowing down, thinking carefully, and understanding other people’s feelings. Max Tuna, the fastest fish on the reef, loves to zoom around. But going too fast leads to mistakes and misunderstandings. With help from classmates and guidance from his teacher, Miss Coral, Max learns that taking his time and noticing others can make playtime kinder for everyone.

This story supports emotional regulation, empathy, and thoughtful decision-making, and aligns with social-emotional learning (SEL) goals in preschool and pre-K. It is ideal for shared reading at home, in early education classrooms, and in child care settings.

Drawing on principles from the Australian Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF Version 2.0) and the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Max Speed Max encourages children's personal, social, and emotional development through gentle storytelling and relatable characters.
