Maylie of the Highlands (Paperback or Softback)

Will Maylie survive haggis, the Highland Games, and a crush?

Maylie’s next stop is Scotland—a land of tartans, kilts, bagpipes, and a new crush? When she meets 12-year-old Kieran MacGregor, a volunteer at Glamis Castle, she forgets all about Alex, the guy back home she has liked since kindergarten.

The more time she spends with Kieran, the more she likes him. But she’s not as secretive about it as she thinks. When she takes some embarrassing photos of her brother, he threatens to tell Kieran about the crush.

Furthermore, a local girl at the Young Archaeologist’s Camp has a crush on Kieran too and devises her own plan to guarantee Maylie’s trip to Scotland ends in disaster.

Author M.L. Tarpley writes stories of adventure, friendship, and fun that transport kids to amazing places across the world. She is a kid at heart with an active imagination that she thankfully don't have to rein in when writing quirky novels that she would have loved as a kid. She is also an award-winning journalist and world traveler. Besides writing and traveling to over a dozen countries, her other interests include hanging out at cool coffee shops, listening to vintage records, going on adventures with her family, and researching dead people in her family from long ago (*cough* it's called genealogy). She lives in Louisiana with her husband and son. For more information, visit her website, www.mltarpleybooks.com
