16mo. 4.5 x 6.625 in. xiv + [i], 318, [2 blanks] pp. ML Binding Style 1, chocolate brown 'limp croft leather' (leatherette), with gothic Boni & Liveright device in gilt on upper cover, gilt title to spine; brown marbleized endpapers and catalogue of 35 titles (C3) preceding title page. Frontis. map of Wessex. Introduction by Catholic American poet JOYCE KILMER. Includes also front panel of the rare original dust jacket, which previous owner had initially taped on one side to the front free endpaper. Fresh & crisp. A nice copy of an early ML printing that is uncommon in any condition. Very small erasure & hole to preliminary blank, else nearly fine. Faint rubbing to edges. Binding square & tight, text clean & bright. Lacking rare jacket.
