Fair condition, very worn at the edges and the corners, with cardboard showing through at edges, and triangles of cardboard showing at the corners. The spine is not as worn, and still legible, though faded. Pencil writing on the endpapers, front and back. Still tightly bound, with bright pages, smudged and foxed only in spots. This almost 200 year old book has held up remarkably well, considering that it was not a book who sat safely ona shelf, but met with considerable use and handling. The famous McGuffey fifth reader, 1853. "The Eclectic Series . Containing Elegant Extracts in Prose and Poetry: with copious Rules and Rhetorical Exercises." Revised and Improved. 480 pp.
