Gerald Epstein, MD (1935-2019) was a pioneer in the field of integrative medicine and a leading expert in the therapeutic use of mental imagery for healing physical and emotional ailments. Initially trained as a Freudian analyst, he shifted his focus in 1974 to study under Mme. Colette Aboulker-Muscat, becoming a major catalyst in using the Western spiritual tradition in healing. Dr. Jerry (as he was affectionately known) directed The American Institute for Mental Imagery (AIMI) in New York City until his death in 2019. There, he facilitated group practices, trained healthcare professionals, and taught courses on the Gerald Epstein Medical System (GEMS), a therapeutic treatment that uses one's inner wisdom to balance and repair mind, body, and spirit. In addition to his teachings and private practice, Dr. Jerry authored numerous books and audios, including the seminal Healing Visualizations: Creating Health through Imagery and Encyclopedia of Mental Imagery: Colette Aboulker-Muscat's 2,100 Visualization Exercises for Personal Development, Healing, and Self-Knowledge.

Rachel Epstein, J.D., L.Ac., is co-founder and director of the American Institute for Mental Imagery (AIMI) in New York City and is a holistic health coach. With over 30 years of experience, Rachel helps clients heal from physical illness and emotional trauma. She teaches the core GEMS (Gerald Epstein Medical System) curriculum and is Editor-in-Chief of ACMI Press. As AIMI's academic director, Rachel continues to evolve the core curriculum to meet the current needs of human transformation and personal development. She received her training in mental imagery from internationally recognized authorities Mme. Colette Aboulker-Muscat and Dr. Gerald Epstein, her late husband and co-author.
