A well crafted fictional account of a real life situation too common in the USA, the prospect of losing a small town's ambiance along with its farm lands. Tied to the land and each other in complex ways, the characters are Ohio angels with halos slightly askew. The truth of this story made my heart sing.
Phyllis Wilson Moore, Independent Researcher, West Virginia Literature, Clarksburg, WV
A brilliant process analysis for all communities who wish to confront and control urban sprawl.
Kevin C. Stewart, author of Margot, the 1999 Texas Review Novella Prize
A story of two men and a village who find their heart's desire -- and their family roots -- in their own backyard. The characters are original fiction, but the fight to save the farm is real. And the fight continues, every day, all across the nation.
Krista Magaw, Executive Director, Tecumseh Land Trust, Yellow Springs, Ohio
It is a great pleasure to read an American novel that takes grassroots political action seriously. Davis captures both the messy vicissitudes of human love and error, and how a political movement can develop and even succeed.
Meredith Sue Willis, Novelist, Oradell at Sea, Dwight's House and Other Stories
A beautiful tale of the redemptive nature of the human spirit. The Measure of Everything truly takes measure of the faith, courage, and capacity to forgive within us all.
Katrina Kittle, novelist, Traveling Light, Two Truths and A Lie
