J.S. Warner taught math in the Philippines and American Samoa before coming home to New Jersey, where he spent the rest of his 33 year career as both a math teacher and a nurse. He retired in March 2026 to write full time. Since his first book came out in October 2024, he has published the Nurse Jim children's series in four languages and a psychological thriller, Measured Steps: The Claire Morrison Files, with the second novel in the series on the way. He and his wife of over forty years are parents and grandparents living at the Jersey Shore.
