Synopsis

This book is written keeping the researcher in mind. Much has been done in Kevlar fibre composites and while perusing through the available literature , I feel lucky that I too have contributed or chipped in my little best , like the squirrel from the epics. This book covers some of the important investigations in the field of Kevlar fabric reinforced epoxy based composites, pertaining to their static mechanical behaviour. The approach has been semi-empirical, phenomenological and some times numerical in nature. Successful attempts have been made by the author and co workers, in improving the compressive and flexural strengths of the Kevlar based composites. If this book inspires the investigators of Kevlar based composites to venture more in to the subject , the purpose can be said to be achieved. Suggestions and comments to the author are welcome about this book.

About the Author

Dr. Padmanabhan Krishnan FIIPE, FIE, CE(I), FISME, took his M.Sc [Engg] and PhD [Engg] in the field of composite materials from the Department of Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in the years 1991 and 1995. He has rich post doctoral experience and currently he is a professor at VIT, Vellore, India.
