Uniformly bound, early editions of these collections of medical treatises published by the Philosophical Society of Edinburgh during the early 18th century. Very scarce works. Presenting these very scarce works, two volumes of collections of medical essays and treatises, collated and published by the Philosophical Society of Edinburgh.Included in this set is Volume I, the first edition published in 1733, and Volume II, the second edition published in 1737.These early eighteenth century works contain various essays and treatises intended to advance knowledge and science in some form or design. A few examples of the essays included in these works are: 'An Account of the Diseases that were most frequent last Year in Edinburgh', 'An Essay on the Art of injecting the Vessels of Animals', 'Loss of Appetite, and an Atrophy from the Stomach displaced', and 'An Enquiry into the natural History and medical Uses of Several mineral Steel Waters'.Volume I contains four folding plates.Volume II contains four folding plates.These works have been uniformly bound in quarter calf and contain the ink signature of a previous owner to the front free-endpaper of each volume, dated 1911. Volume II also contains an ink signature of a previous owner to the title page: 'N. Lawrence'.ESTC No. T127874 Uniformly bound in quarter calf with marbled boards. Externally, some rubbing to the joints and general shelf wear to the boards. Previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpapers of both volumes and to the title page of Volume II. Internally, hinges are starting but firm to both volumes. Binding is firm. Pages are slightly age-toned, as is common for a work of this age, and contain some handling marks, but are otherwise generally clean. Good.
