A school notebook belonging to Elbert S Dupuy (1876-1941), who attended Miami School of Medicine in Cincinnati, OH This notebook contains the notes from a course taught by Dr. John Albert Thompson (1859-1944) on laryngology The notes are detailed and mostly legible For example when writing about the various diseases, its starts with the name and definition of a disease, and continues on to its etiology, pathology, symptomatology, diagnosis, prognosis, and possible treatments There are a few hand-drawn anatomical diagram to go along with the notes The exact dates for which Dupuy takes this course is unclear, as the cover has "Oct 4, 1899", and but the first lecture date within the notebook occurs several pages in and is February 27, 1900 Furthermore, there is a large time jump towards the end of the notebook when it goes from April 1900, to April 1901 It is unclear if this was dating mistake, as the year appears to be written deliberately several times Marbleized board covers Nearly completely filled Measures 8.25" by 4.5". This school would merge in 1908 with the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine. Elbert Stevenson Dupuy was born on March 20, 1876 o James Newton Dupuy (1851-1913) and Nattie Ann V Garland (1853-1888) in Garrison, KY He had two siblings: Eva Dupuy Boyles (1875-1939) and Frank G Dupuy (1884-?), and one half sister: Ester Dupuy Sears (1894-1993) He attended Miami Medical College in Cincinnati, OH (which later would merge with the University of Cincinnati's Medical College), and graduated in May 1901 He married Lillian Dixon (1880-1969) on June 18, 1903 in McDonald, WV and had three children: Dr. Elbert Newton "Newton" Dupuy (1904-1995), Ruth Dupuy Davis (1906-1934), and Dr. Samuel Stuart Dupuy (1912-1974) He died on October 16, 1941 in Beckley, WV of a coronary thrombosis. General wear and toning due to age. Intact covers detached from text block.
