About this Item
I am pleased to offer a book featuring the Medieval Georgian Enamels of Russia housed at the time at the Georgian National Museum of Fine Arts in Tiflis. It was authored by Shalva Amiranashvili, at the time the Director of the Museum. This large hard cover book (10 x 12 ¾ inches, 126 pages) was published by Harry N. Abrams of New York, dated 1964. The book is bound in red cloth with gilt titles on the spine and is protected by a pictorial dust jacket. The book is nicely illustrated with 76 tipped-in color plates of these enameled treasures. Please see the photos of the List of Plates for your further information. The accompanying text discusses each piece in terms of its history iconography and execution. Many of the plates feature enameled objects enhanced with gold. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket shows considerable edge wear including a few inexpertly repaired tears. The hardcovers are bright and clean except for a small smudge on the front cover, barely visible, and a narrow band of fading at the top and bottom of the spine. Inside a former owner has left his bookplate on the front endpaper but that is the only mark I found in the book. The interior pages and plates are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. Seller Inventory # 30
