Item description from seller

153 p. Illustrations (48 Color Plates and 243 Black and White Plates). table of Concordance. Bibliography. List of Related Manuscripts. Translated and adapted from the original Italian Edition Tacuinum Sanitatis, Electa Editrice. The illuminated manuscripts collectively known as Tacuinum Sanitatis were late-medieval (late 1300s and early 1400s) handbooks which illustrated and explained the effects of foods, winds, waters, seasons and even human emotions upon a person's health. The charming and lively plates reproduce the original manuscript pages. Very good. No dust jacket. In slipcase.
