Meditations and Handbook: Pocket Edition (Paperback)

Paperback. Enjoy these classics of Stoic philosophy they way they were meant to be read, together for the first time in this pocket-sized printing. The Enchiridion ("Handbook") is a collection the most powerful insights of Stoic philosopher Epictetus (55-135 CE). Compiled by his student Arrian and translated by Elizabeth Carter, the Handbook has endured for generations as a source of resilience and inspiration for readers. Marcus Aurelius's Meditations, a diary of thoughts to himself, contains an unflinching look into the mind of one of Rome's Four Good Emperors. Marcus (121-180 CE) is seen reminding himself of his duty to humanity and his place among the greater cosmos, writing with a passion, depth and clarity seldom seen in the world's leaders. The Meditations earns Marcus a place among the great moral sages of history: Confucius, Buddha, Socrates, and Jesus.
