Meet Yourself as you really are, different from others because you combine uniquely features present in everyone: about three million detailed individual character studies through self-analysis. By Prince Leopold Loewenstein and William Gerhardi

Wrappers. Spine slightly worn at foot. First Penguin edition (book first published by Faber, 1936); from the library of Sir Michael Holroyd. Gerhardie's collaboration with Prince Leopold Maximilian zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg, husband of Countess Bianca Fischler von Treuberg who had recently sculpted Gerhardie's bust, was, he said, "the only book in existence which reviews the reviewer before he reviews the book". Now billed as one of the first "self-help" books, it benefited from a huge publicity campaign, but not so immediately that it relieved the financial plight of its senior co-author.
