About Melancholy Books
Melancholy Books is a bookseller based in Edinburgh and named after Robert Burtons 'The Anatomy of Melancholy', a book on the causes and treatment of depression which also attempted 'to explain all human thought and emotion'. While we specialise in rare scientific and medical texts, like our namesake we are interested in a broad range of topics and we attempt to reflect this in our stock. We love finding books with an interesting history and medical or scientific link we think may be of interest to readers. All items are offered subject to prior sale. All items are guaranteed as described. We are willing to hold items for seven days. Items for any reason unsatisfactory may be returned within thirty days of receipt, with prior notice. Any returns must be well packaged and sent in a traceable manner. Additional insurance is not required for a return shipment. We accept Visa, MasterCard (Eurocard), money orders, cash, Paypal, cheques (in pounds sterling). Credit card orders must be shipped to the billing address of the credit card. Shipping is not included in the book price. International air and surface shipments at additional cost.
Shipping terms
Orders ship within 2 business day. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 500 grams and shipping within the United Kingdom. If you are outside the UK or if your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
