Memoir and Letters of Sara Coleridge, Ed. by Her Daughter E. Coleridge

Memoir And Letters Of Sara Coleridge, Ed. By Her Daughter E. Coleridge by Sara Coleridge. This volume presents Sara Coleridge’s life and letters, collected and edited by her daughter Edith Coleridge, and situates her within the Wordsworth circle and the broader Romantic-religious discourse. It compiles her memoir and a substantial body of correspondence, notably with Aubrey de Vere, Miss Fenwick, Edward Quillinan, and other contemporaries, spanning mid-1840s to early 1850s. The book reveals her earnest reflections on baptism, regeneration, and theological questions, as well as keen literary criticism of Milton, Dante, Wordsworth, and Keats. Edited by the editor, the work blends personal reminiscence with documentary material, providing an intimate portrait of a Victorian Christian intellect navigating faith, grief, and public controversy. It serves as a valuable primary source for scholars of 19th-century religion, poetry, and biography, illustrating how Sara Coleridge contributed to and engaged with the intellectual currents of her time.
