Ex-library volumes, with a small array of library stamps, references and residual security labels to pastedowns and endpapers, occasionally elsewhere. General shelf and handling wear, including tanning and light wear to boards and edges, tanning and foxing to pageblock, this leading into the 1848 endpapers and free papers with light, occasional foxing spots within. Original tissue paper facing frontispiece in Vol.I. has been lost, however, tissue present in Vol. II. Discreet pencilled correction note in Vol.II, page 213, a reader having spotted an error in the text. Within, pages are tightly bound, and, other than aforementioned, content is unmarked.
