Because We Could: A Memoir

With a large canvas of emotions, high stakes, and potential confrontations, an unlikely threesome abandons the 70's good-life in Toronto to embark on a seafaring journey like no other: Marni - naïve, full of conviction; David - macho entrepreneur; and a 112-foot ex-warship named Sondra - the only one of the three with logged sea time.In this era of culturally important music, experimentation with drugs, free love, and carefree hitchhiking, anything was possible and everything was permissible. With nothing planned, prepared for, or expected, they set out to sea in Nova Scotia with Key West as their destiny. This is a true, first-hand account about overcoming the odds with near death experiences, shady business opportunities, and complex love relationships magnified by the sexual attitudes of the time. You will laugh, delight, and cry with Marni through this unique and suspenseful drama of her questions, her screw-ups, her triumphs, and her ultimate maturing.
