"A Memoir of Mother Francis Raphael, O.S.D. Augusta Theodosia Drane" provides a comprehensive and moving look into the life of one of the nineteenth century's most prominent figures in English Catholic life. Augusta Theodosia Drane, known in her religious order as Mother Francis Raphael, was a distinguished writer, educator, and the Prioress Provincial of the Dominican Sisters of the Congregation of St. Catherine of Siena. This work, compiled and edited by Father Bertrand Wilberforce, chronicles her spiritual evolution, her leadership within the church, and her literary contributions to the Catholic world.

Drawing from personal correspondence, journals, and intimate recollections, the memoir captures the intellectual and spiritual depth of a woman who played a vital role in the Victorian religious landscape. The text explores her conversion to Catholicism, her dedication to the Dominican rule, and her efforts to improve education within her community. Readers will discover a nuanced portrait of a woman whose life was a synthesis of administrative leadership and deep contemplative prayer. This volume is an essential resource for those interested in the history of the Dominican Order, the Victorian Catholic revival, and the enduring legacy of women leaders in the Church.
