Memoirs of the Modern Muslimah: First Edition (Full Color): Hudain Muhammad Publishing House

Memoirs of the Modern Muslimah is a deeply personal and powerful coming-of-age narrative told through the voice of a young African American Muslim girl. The memoir explores her journey through racism, bullying, identity, faith, and self-love. Beginning with her bold decision to wear the hijab at school, she quickly becomes a target for cruelty, especially from a boy named Logan. As she navigates the challenges of adolescence, religion, and fitting in, she finds strength in her faith, family, and her evolving understanding of herself. The story captures moments of pain—being called “ugly,” being physically attacked, and confronting racism at school—as well as moments of resilience, such as Ramadan reflections, prayer, and joyful memories at the masjid. Through it all, the narrator remains grounded in her belief in Allah and the values instilled in her by her community and religion.Ultimately, this memoir is a testament to the courage it takes to be different, to stand firm in one’s identity, and to grow into a strong, unapologetic Muslim woman in a world that often misunderstands her.
