Very scarce publication in any edition, 13 copies (second and third editions) held at the British and international libraries. No others for sale. The spine label states Twelve Engravings this copy has 2 Frontispieces (one for each work), one engraved title page to the first work in addition to the text title page, and six engraved plates (some folding). There are other engravings in the text. The folding engraved plates feature the Battle of the Nile, of Copenhagen and Trafalgar, a facsimile of Nelson s handwriting, Nelson s coffin and his Funeral Carriage. 9 Engraved plates in total including the title and frontispieces. Comprehending authentic and circumstantial details of his glorious achievements under the British Flag and a sketch of his Parliamentary Conduct and Private Character with biographical particulars of Contemporary Naval Officers, to which is added by way of supplement a correct narrative of The Ceremonies Attending his Funeral. xii, 13-419, [i], 77pp [i]. Approximately 7 ½ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition black title of white label, signs of general age wear. Joints good condition gently rubbed and worn. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition full paper covered boards, loss to the corners, some damp staining to the front. Page edges good condition all edges untrimmed and tanned. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition intact. Paste downs good condition plain, the front paste down has an armorial book plate Calverly Bewicke Esq., lightly tanned with some foxing. End papers good condition plain, the rear end paper has some hand written notes in pencil, lightly tanned with some foxing, some of the free end papers have signs of damp staining. Title good condition there is a pictorial title page showing The Victory Engaging the Bucentaur , this page has signs of damp staining and is tanned with some minor foxing, the main title page is text only and it heavily tanned.
