The Memory Thief – A Cyber-Noir Thriller of Identity, Power, and Betrayal
In a city where memories are currency, what happens when they’re stolen?
Elysium City is a neon-drenched metropolis built on technology, secrets, and illusion. Crime thrives in its shadows, where underground dealers trade in stolen recollections, wiping identities clean or selling fabricated pasts to the highest bidder. No one knows this world better than Maya Turner, a rogue investigator with the rare ability to extract and manipulate memories. She’s spent years using her gift to uncover hidden truths—until she becomes entangled in a case unlike any other.
A series of victims have appeared across the city, stripped of their entire identities. Their pasts erased, their minds left hollow. Whispers from the underworld speak of The Eraser, a figure in the shadows wielding a terrifying new technology—one that doesn’t just steal memories but permanently deletes them.
When Maya is called to investigate the latest victim—a man with no recollection of who he is, only a fractured glimpse of a black-coated figure—she realizes she’s stumbled into something far bigger than a simple case of memory theft. The deeper she digs, the more she uncovers a vast conspiracy reaching into the highest echelons of power. And at its center is Elias Vane, the brilliant yet ruthless mastermind who believes that erasing the past is the key to controlling the future.
As Maya races to stop Vane’s plan, she turns to Professor Marlowe Gray, an expert in memory augmentation who may hold the key to reversing the damage. But time is running out. With each new extraction, Maya risks losing pieces of herself, her own memories slipping away like sand through her fingers. And when the enemy knows how to rewrite reality itself, how do you hold onto the truth?
Caught between a city that fears her and an enemy who sees her as the last obstacle to his vision, Maya must make an impossible choice: fight for the minds of millions or sacrifice her own in the process.
Perfect for fans of Altered Carbon, Blade Runner, and The Peripheral, The Memory Thief is a pulse-pounding cyber-noir thriller filled with high-stakes mystery, heart-stopping action, and mind-bending twists. If you love high-tech conspiracies, morally complex heroes, and futuristic crime fiction, this novel will keep you turning pages late into the night.
One city. One thief. One chance to stop the erasure of everything.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
