Laurel Hearthwick makes memory candles for Bramblefen's Harvest Moon Social. Her work is precise, her shop is warm, and her village is built on the kind of quiet that can last for decades.

Then one candle burns wrong.

A witness sees fog, a lantern chain, and a girl going under the black fen water while someone watches from the bank. The vision leads Laurel into archives, workshops, and old boardwalks where every answer seems to have been edited. A map has been recopied. A record altered. A name erased from the village's shared memory.

The deeper Laurel digs, the more the truth tightens around the people who shaped Bramblefen's history-and the woman who has spent thirty-one years making sure no one looks too closely at it. But some lies are built so carefully that exposing them can cost more than reputation. It can destroy the village's most trusted order, and put Laurel squarely in the path of the person who still knows how the water swallowed Ivy Thorne.
