About the Author

Andee Baker (Andrea J. Baker) taught sociology and conducted research in Ohio until her retirement as an Associate Professor in 2014. Her interests have centered round gender roles, deviance, and internet communities, relationships, and identities. She studied eighty couples who met online and then offline, producing early research on internet relationships, summarized in her book Double Click: Romance Among Couples Who Met Online (Hampton Press, 2005). With Monica Whitty and James Inman, she co-edited Online Matchmaking (Palgrave MacMillan, 2007), a collection of studies of aspects of online dating.

 

Writing for popular audiences, Andee interviewed over one hundred members of online fan communities for You Get What You Need: Stories of Fans of the Rolling Stones (Miniver Press, 2014). They told her about their first exposure to the music, their concert experiences, their Stones memorabilia, and how they connected to like-minded fans, online and in person. Her latest book is a memoir, My Men, Mick, and Me (2020).

 
Since 2005, Andee lives in New Mexico with her white cat Sunny, and continues to follow The Rolling Stones as much as time and money allow. She likes to act in plays whenever possible, and occasionally writes essays about everyday life.
