In 2002 he won the Grand Prize for the best graphic novel at the Hiroshima manga competition. His graphic novel Skeleton Boy was selected for inclusion in the Hiroshima peace memorial library in 2007. As a Civil War historian, he has worked as a technical advisor for the films, Dances with Wolves, Gettysburg, and Glory. This is his first book in a continuing series ol the history of the Simmons family and their struggles as settlers in the Midwest beginning with the Civil and Indian wars from 1861-65 and culminating with the massacre at Wounded Knee in 1890.…
