Mentoring continues to be one of the fastest growing techniques in human resource management. It's viewed as being an essential building block of modern management development. But what is mentoring and why is it so popular?
Mentoring in Action answers these questions plus many more. Now in its second edition, this popular book continues to examine a variety of mentoring schemes through a multitude of new, insightful case studies, illustrating both the successes and failures. Re-structured to provide a thorough overview of mentoring, the subject is broken down into small, accessible sections including: Making a mentoring culture; Principles of scheme design; The shape of a mentoring relationship; Frameworks for a mentoring episode;Techniques in mentoring; Mentoring moments.
Hugely practical, it demonstrates the flexibility of mentoring and its application in numerous areas, including business, the public sector, education and the community, and explains how mentoring can benefit the effectiveness of: the learning organisation; empowerment initiatives; management competencies; personal development plans; performance management; and career management.
An innovative approach to a fascinating subject.
