Mercer County, Kentucky, USA; Kentucky: A History of the State

An overview of the early days of Mercer County, Kentucky, and biographies of some of the county's prominent residents from the late 1800s, are combined with a brief history of the state in this new 62-page book. The spiral-bound book includes biographies from the 1880's book, Kentucky: A History of the State by J.H. Battle, W.H. Perrin and G.C. Kniffin, excerpts from Kentucky, a Guide to the Bluegrass State, a 1939 product of the WPA Writer's Program, and information from various internet sources. The tri-color front cover is printed on 80# card stock and has been protected with a vinyl sheet. This is our second book on Mercer County, Kentucky. The other one is more concerned with the history of the county, and is in combination with Boyle County. For the most part the books contain different material, although some information from the WPA book is in both. The individual biographies often shed light on the area and the times, including the Civil War era, as well as providing specific genealogical data.
