The Mercer Files: The Alabaster Eye

Every city keeps its secrets.

New Aldridge buries them in blood.

When Frank Mercer finds a carved stone eye waiting on his desk, he knows better than to ask why. Things like that don’t arrive by accident. They arrive with purpose.

And purpose always comes with a price.

As bodies begin to surface, each marked in the same brutal fashion, Mercer starts to realise this isn’t about murder. It’s about judgment. About something — or someone — deciding who deserves to be seen… and who doesn’t.

The deeper he digs, the clearer it becomes:

The Eye doesn’t kill.

It reveals.

And in a city built on lies, that might be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because once the city decides what you are…

there’s no escaping it.
