A sinister curse trails the House of Loya, a powerful Marwari family of arms dealers. Leading oddly distorted lives where immorality and sexual perversions are infinitely glorified, they cruise along mindlessly even as they become victims of strange mishaps and tragedies.

In an unexpected turn of events, political changes deprive the family of their clout and they find themselves in an ugly wrangle with the government. That's when Bharat Loya, the firstborn in the third generation, takes over as the head of the business. With his deep pockets and facade of hotelier-cum-airline owner, he obliterates his rivals to become the uncrowned king of the pack. Yet, he remains a troubled man.

Set in India in the second half of the 20th century, the story gives a scathing insight into the lives of a Marwari family and the troubled paths they must negotiate.

About the Author

Neelima Dalmia Adhar was educated in a convent school and a reputed college in Delhi and has a Master's in Psychology with a specialisation in 'Personality.' Her first and only job was to teach Psychology to undergraduate students at Delhi University. A passionate 'people-watcher', she is drawn to oddities and thrives on writing about personalities and human behaviour, from the quirky to the mysterious to the bizarre, a subject she does chillingly close to the bone.

She lives in Delhi with her husband, children and two grandchildren.
