Synopsis:

A Midwest business man (Rodney Faber) in the has made a fortune with non-union trucking of fresh meats from the Midwest to Las Vegas and Southern California. His illegal cargo of knock-off liquor, weapons and illegal immigrants escaping from Cuba is even more profitable. Life in the 1960s and 1970s is good. Suddenly, the Kansas City and Chicago Mafia are in a disarray from the FBI's intervention in their turf wars, skimming, money laundering and pension frauds in Las Vegas. The Teamsters are also under attack because of their improper investments and illegal tactics. All three need new revenue. Faber's non-union operation becomes one of their targets. After deaths to dear friends, blackmail and constant fighting to avoid their takeover efforts, he decides to exit the business. With the help of his silent German partner now living in Mexico and his attorney, he plans an exit strategy. Will he use legal methods, illegal methods or a little of each. About the Author: Leon (Lee) Shearer has been an attorney in the Midwest for over 40 years. He still maintains a small clientele of loyal friends. He has written three legal books. His efforts in writing mystery novels started with Cycles of Death. Several golfing friends/ retirees discover a serial killer riding on an annual bike trip across Iowa. It is a perfect hunting ground for future female victims. They resort to less than legal means to solve the matter. In Hiding in Des Moines, the same retirees discover one of them is a nearly retired vigilante for hire who has used the town and their friendship as his hiding place. He enlist their help in solving his last and biggest contract. Solving the merger between a drug cartel and a huge Midwest pot producer requires unusual tactics with surprising results.
