Merlin and the Dragon Queen (Paperback)

Paperback. He has been asleep for months. Rome is marching on Camelot. And somewhere on a volcanic island at the edge of the world, an ancient dragon is waiting.Merlin is not what the stories say. He is not old - not visibly, at least. He is not entirely human. And he is very, very tired of people underestimating him. When he wakes from one of his deep restorative sleeps to find Camelot threatened by a Roman army thirty thousand strong, Merlin sets in motion a plan of breathtaking audacity - one that will require him to defy Oberon's ban, outwit the proud and dangerous Dragon Queen Aelphaba, ride an ancient dragon across the continent, and put the entire city of Rome to sleep. But behind the Roman threat is something older and more personal: Mab, the Spider Queen, who has waited centuries to settle a score with the half-blooded wizard who once humiliated her in Oberon's court. And while Merlin is chasing dragons across Avalon and outmaneuvering ancient Aelfish powers in the sleeping streets of Rome, something is happening in a cold castle in Orkney that he doesn't see coming at all.Merlin and the Dragon Queen is the first serial in The Merlin Chronicles - a richly imagined retelling of Arthurian legend that finds the magic in the mythology, the darkness under the chivalry, and the wit in the wizard.Serial One ends on a cliffhanger.
