Deep in the ocean evil stirs, corruption reigns and the only way out is up.
A standalone book in the Mermaid Curse series.
Seventeen-year-old Delphin must mate before his pod’s next Hunt or face the wrath of his father—the pod’s tyrant leader. His match with Chrysalis ends in disaster. Delphin’s life swirls out-of-control as his deepest secrets threaten to rise to the surface.
A trusted friend hints at a solution. Delphin leaps at the chance—until he understands what he must do: fight in a tournament. Fight? Delphin can’t hold his trident without dropping it! Every year mermen die.
However, he soon realizes that the dangers of a tournament are nothing compared to the evil and corruption that infects his community. They sacrifice their own kind to appease the so-called Tentacle Lord and hunt humans for sport. But Delphin is no killer. In fact, he falls in love with one of their prey—a human boy whom he rescues.
Will Delphin find the courage to reject every rule his father stands for, fight for truth, and defy the evil that threatens to destroy him and those he loves?
